My initial CBT roles focused on Depression and the Anxiety Disorders. In the past three and a half years, I have developed my experience in working with the Eating Disorders, having worked for an Eating Disorder charity and in an NHS Eating Disorder service. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as a my main approach to treating these difficulties due to the evidence base for this approach.
I work with a range of Eating Disorders including the following:
Anorexia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa
Binge Eating Disorder
Due to the physical impact that these difficulties can have, I typically work closely with a Dietician and your GP to ensure your physical and emotional wellbeing. CBT aims to treat Eating Disorders by understanding the links between thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical symptoms. I work collaboratively to set realisitic and achievable goals and to implement mangeable steps to achieving these.
Many of my clients also work with my colleague Claire Fudge at Nutricise (http://nutricise.org/). Claire is an experienced Dietician in the area of Eating Disorders. Claire and I work together to ensure a healthy eating plan and manage any anxieties around this.
